oh man, this was so good and weird and meta! i especially loved the blog parts -- it sounded like a more conversational version of all the english film/lit papers i wrote in college, and it was really fun to see how the "real" events were analyzed like "fiction." i'm really excited to read more from this author!

I went into this with super high expectations after hearing everyone say it was terrifying.
Wasn't terrifying unless possession is one of those things that really get to you.
Regardless, it was a good, quick, freaky read.

In Massachusetts, there's a struggling family. A daughter might be possessed. This is a (mostly) first person recollection of the events the family went through, from the beginning to the aftermath of their televised exorcism on the Discovery Channel.
Would recommend to horror fans.

A Head Full of Ghosts has a really interesting premise - is it possession or is it a poor girl suffering an intense mental health crisis exacerbated by a fervently religious father and media circus? The story tries to walk the line to have us as readers question this continuously as the events unfold, however the execution fell flat for me. On one hand, we don’t have enough time with the characters and the setup to truly question it, and on the other hand the time we do have is spent in a million different directions to the point in which it feels nothing is able to be explored in a compelling way. Merry is an interesting character, and the last reveal in the book is an intriguing turn, but altogether it felt like a rush to an end that was too disparate to impact me.
