We are all people and connected somehow but when it comes to the question of nationality and race it becomes a hindrance to some and a difficult thing to overcome. The hypocritical British India is shaken and probably even dropped a little from its pedestal (the court scene) but the prejudices stay and ultimately we wait what happens to the friendship of an Englishman and an Indian. Forster's writing is rich and though sometimes seemingly simple it has some underlying symbolism and great thoughts.
once upon a time, i used to buy paperback classics three for a dollar from my library book sale and keep them in my backpack to read in free moments at school. because i was very cool and popular.
as you can see, this 300-page little guy took me 23 days to finish, and as you cannot see, my copy of it looks like it went through a book-on-backpack war.
this was extremely boring to 17-year-old me, to the extent that i remember wishing that my science class would reconvene so i could put it away and stop reading it. which is quite an insult because i am not nor have i ever been #WomeninSTEM material, and science is my natural enemy.
however, as this went on, i a) felt very smart for reading it and b) enjoyed it more.
i wish i could say i think i'd reread it someday, but there are just...so many must-read books out there.
i have no time to waste. and also no means of bringing books to school in order to force myself to read them.
i'm not at the level of desperate where i would just hang around a school. yet.
this is part of a project i'm doing where i review books i read a long time ago, and continually impress myself with how much i remember. which isn't even that much.

A fifth star could be argued for, but I found the ending slightly unsatisfactory.
There are sentences in this book that I had a hard time moving on from. I just want to sit there and read them over and over until I could begin to fully grasp their meanings. The beauty and the rhythm, like Adela’s echo from the caves, but in a good way.
Great book, I especially enjoyed the arc where Fielding chose to support Aziz and abandoned the clubhouse. Sad that their friendship couldn’t work out. Forster’s attitude seems a bit sceptical/cynical towards British colonialism rather than outright against it.
Forster at his best: poetic, satiric, witty, and poignant.

و احترت هل اعطيه ⭐️⭐️⭐️ ام⭐️⭐️ لان كان ثقيل او انا صدق ماكان لي خلق اقرأ الروايه لانها كانت من الروايات الي ادرس عنها و الصدق كان الاسلوب مره مثير بس الاحداث ماكانت تشدني اني اكمل و احب اعرف ايش يصير و كان يحتاج لها شخص بكامل وعيه لما يقرأ من شان يفهم كل حدث "او ممكن لان انا كنت ابي كذا من شان افهم كل حدث من شان المادة
