Well-written and enjoyable true crime nonfiction.

It’s a very interesting story and it’s well-reported but without more insight it seems like it could have stayed as a long essay.

Fascinating and wonderfully atmospheric.

I had high hopes for this book and then nothing. I didn't find it to be written very well and the story was a lot more interesting than the way it was told.

I found this story haunting and compelling, especially since it took place in my home state.

Good story, not as entertaining and exciting to read. However, I liked that it was non-fiction and I felt the author really understood the topic and did her research.

A nice departure to non-fiction. This was interesting. I live on the west coast, and I hadn’t heard about these fires. Found it very informative.

Arson is not usually a hot topic in the true crime genre, but Hesse makes her book about an arson spree that burned down nearly a hundred abandoned buildings on the Eastern Shore of Virginia absolutely riveting. It's not only about the arsons. It's also about a rural community. It's about volunteer firefighting. It's about the decay of a once-wealthy area.

This was a very fascinating and worthwhile nonfiction and I'm very glad I read it.

I really enjoyed this! I haven’t read or watched anything to do with arson in quite a while. Great story, told in an engaging way. Not necessarily a mystery but you’re invested in all the players and seeing how the story unfolds.
