Beautiful exploration of country, home, identity in a tumultuos historical context. It is gracefully explored, not shy to look at the darker feelings. Three generations deal with loss, trying to build a life despite the odds being stacked against them.

What is home, at the end of the day.

Many detailed beautifully-written moments illustrating the lives of the three generations, the complexity of the world facing them, and the tension and love between them. Would have liked Naïma’s story to link tighter with the other two, and at times there to be less telling and more showing when it comes to the themes.
