The book is in two parts.

The history of Algeria and their independence from France. And that half is very good, taught me a lot and had a story and decent characters.

The second half is when the main characters leave Algeria for France and is about their lives in France but this is so boring, no story, just Hamid’s feelings and emotions and his parents difficulties living in France away from home.

So dull.
