10/5

i can't explain how in love i am with this book. i still can't process how good it was, how it felt while i was reading it and.. it's just.. woah

when i first started reading it i thought it would be one of those books that take forever to read, that i won't like it and how the only reason I'll finish it it's gonna be cause it's the monthly book of the book club i am in with my best friends. but the story, the characters, the writing style, everything about it proved me wrong. because i laughed, i cried, I couldn't stop reading it and ended up finishing it for two days. i didn't want it to end, i didn't want to put it down.

i loved hearing Evelyn's story. And I hate her, i hate her, but I also love her so much. The choices she made, everything she did.. It's just. I am speechless.

Go read the book if you haven't done it yet. You won't regret it.

It's one of those books that I honestly couldn't put down and look forward to reading. Surprisingly, in that regard, it reminded me of Holes by Louis Sachar.
The prose is very simple yet elegant and sufficient to convey the profound and diverse themes it conveys.
Many paragraphs were a tad scandalous, many others tear-jerking, but the entirety of the book was interesting. Just interesting. A real page turner in its purest sense.
I will probably look at some reader's digest questions to help me process it tomorrow. Right now I'm just enjoying a feel-good cry.

I feel like I just need to sit and contemplate my life for a bit after reading the last page. jk. This review might be incoherent because I literally just finished reading it less than 15 minutes ago lol.

This has been without a doubt, one of the best fiction books I've ever read. I don't say this because of the hype it's received, but because it is well deserved, or the fact that I've genuinely never seen one person say one bad thing about this book.

It's because it presents you with a story so powerful, so profound, so simple but complex. Like its main character Evelyn Hugo, it is a contradiction- one of the most intricate and well-woven books I've ever read but also you will go into it predicting the ending, and you will probably be (sorta) right. Is that a spoiler? Hopefully not, we'll just assume your predictions are not the same as mine lol. But I loved it. It's a book I would recommend reading in one seating and going in as blind as possible to read it (which might be an impossible task given the hype and the fact that you are reading my review lol).

It tells the truth about the price you pay for what you want to achieve in life. It speaks of the complexities of life, of all the gray areas that life brings because it is not black and white. I believe everyone should read this book. I think they'll be transformed by it. If anything, they'll come out of it with a deeper understanding of love, sacrifice, truth, individuality, of life. Those are the universal facets of life, after all.
