A neurodivergent girl wants to make the world a more accepting place.

This book started off kind of confusing and oddly paced, but ends up telling a beautiful story. The book focuses on Addie's journey at school... dealing with bullies (both young and old), along with trying to figure out friendships, parents and society, etc.  I absolutely loved how much Addie related to sharks and the unfortunate demise of her town's historical "witches". She could see herself in those that were targeted, judged and harmed... and wanted to do something about it. I really enjoyed her journey to get a plaque for those wrongly killed during the town's witch hysteria. It was a powerful and inspirational moment.

Overall, I thought this book did a good job of explaining what it's like to be neurodivergent along with showing themes of ending intolerance and embracing acceptance.

I know this is for young adults/middle graders but I loved this book! I cried multiple times, feeling the unfairness, hopelessness, injustice deep in my soul. The characters all felt so real and believable... sometimes, in not a good way. A really beautiful and moving story.
