Books like these are some of my favorites by King....I love how he takes his time to envelop you into an entire world with lots of carefully selected details. This one expanded past just the horror aspects, but it was still delightfully creepy. One of my favorites of his now!

This is one of my favorite Stephen King ghost stories.

Well, as per usual with Stephen King, it was a bit hard for me to get in to at the beginning. A bit slow, I'd say. But once getting over that hump, it was enticing and kept me coming back. I found it a bit confusing, as it jumped from time to time, and sometimes the "flashbacks" weren't very clear - the descriptions were all over the place and hard to follow at times. Overall, though, it was a good story, and I'm glad that I pursued it until the end.

Grieving author tries to save single parent from evil man with the help of a lawyer and some fridge magnets.

I sort of fell out with Stephen King in the 90s, a couple of books just didn't do it for me, so I've gone back to that period and read a few that I missed. For the most part, this is peak Stephen King and the supernatural element really really works. It's probably a bit long and when you get to "that shocking moment" there are still about 100 pages left to go and it really does feel a bit drawn out. Also a couple of dream sequences which are very strange BUT overall very good indeed.

This is a fine ghost story. I just don't know what else I can say about it without spoilers. And it features an absolutely adorable little girl character.

For reference, I didn't like the TV movie. A lot of the story was left out and as a result, I was far less emotionally involved with the characters.

dark mysterious tense

Overall theme not a bad one, the strange romance i could have done without. i found it distracting to the storyline and even rather annoying. came across as unbelievable, and i realize i am reading a stephen king novel, but to fall into the story i still feel the need for the characters relationships to feel real.

This is my second reading of Bag of Bones by Stephen King. What brought me back to this novel was the audiobook version read by the author. As someone once said, Stephen King reading a story is like listening to a scary tale around a campfire. Noonan is an author who suddenly loses his wife and every night he has nightmares due to her death and he suffers from writer’s block. His loneliness brings him back to a home he had shared with his wife in a small town and strange happenings are afoot. This is where Stephen King begins to scare and terrify the audience, with his usual skill of setting up eerie scenes and fascinating characters. I may read this one a third time someday, just for the fun of being frightened. A great choice for Halloween or anytime. Highly recommended.

One of my favourite King novels.
