Be distinct or get extinct. Advertising is an older concept nowadays a product reaches its target consumer by being Remarkable. And remember "very good" doesn't mean remarkable it means bad.

If you are curious about modern-day marketing and you love disease metaphors during a pandemic, you’d probably like this book more than me. Future me will have fun pointing to this book and shouting about how capitalism is parasitic.

Seth Godin's book from 2003 but still so spot on in 2018. How do you do this...
He also summarizes the book in 4 short bullet points at the end. He narrated this book himself on audible.com. It is so refreshing.

An unremarkable and dated book. A quick read, but I don't feel like I came away from this book with anything.

Let me summerize the book in a few sentences:

MARKETING IS WRONG, ADVERTISEMENTS ARE DYING.
FOR STUFF TO SELL IT HAS TO BE AWESOME.
IF YOUR STUFF IS AWESOME AND IT SELLS DONT SAVE ALL THAT MONEY, SPEND IT ON MAKING SOMETHING MORE AWESOME.
YOU WILL FAIL.
KEEP TRYING.

Which is all fine and dandy, but I'm not entirely sure who the hell this book is supposed to help.

My favorite Seth Godin book so far. Very well written and accessible to the aspiring entrepenur or marketing professional.

This was required reading for a business class I was taking, and while I suppose it served its function well enough, I have no further interest in it.

The book in 3 sentences/summary:

Make your business a success by being remarkable.

Boring and safe won’t get you results, being unique and remarkable will.

Innovate and you’ll get there faster.

My impressions:

Purple Cow might have the ugliest cover I’ve ever seen on a book but boy does it pack a punch. No matter if you create products or services, supply information in the form of content or anything else for that matter, this book is a must-read.

It doesn’t contain any actionable strategy, instead, it supplies you with the tools and information to innovate and re-think how you design the things you’re going to sell and even how your business runs.

A brilliant book that’s concise, to the point and quite exciting.

Should you read it? (who would benefit from this):

As I said, anyone in business should read this book.

What I personally got from the book:

I got a lot from this one. From getting specific with my audience, to developing something remarkable and more. All of these I already knew, but Seth’s fresh and matter of fact perspective is invaluable.
