Okay, this book rocks. Babylon’s Ashes was a struggle for me to get through. It ended well, but had more than its share of “has this series lost what made it great?” This book responds with “not even a little.” In fact, I may have enjoy this book more than any other to date. Anything that looked like status quo before this is dashed to pieces and it makes for incredibly fertile soil for a story with these characters we’ve grown to love. It’s hard to discuss the plot at all since is basically all spoilers, but it’s totally worth riding with the crew of the Roci again.

Okay, I didn't love this as much as the previous books... I think it's a good thing the tv show ends after season (aka book) 6. There's a thirty year time gap and all the characters are suddenly 60 or 70 and it feels weird? Also, this is definitely the start of a seperate 'trilogy' in the series. It feels like this will continue in Tiamat's Wrath and find its conclusion in Leviathan Falls. Still going to finish the series, of course, I still love it. It just might take a while before I pick up book #8
