This was a solid little mermaid retelling. The spicy scenes were well done and the characters had excellent growth. My only complaint is the story felt like it climaxed too soon and it made the last hundred pages drag a bit.

I have discovered the amazing Rebecca F Kenney and there are no regrets.
The Sea Witch has everything I needed for the beginning of the year. It had interesting characters, spicy scenes and some of my favourite character development of from the books I read recently.
(Bonus it is also a Little Mermaid retelling and I loved this movie when growing up) The growth we see between Averil and the Sea Witch is constantly throughout the book and done in a believable way to me.
I also loved the HEA we get and how the book ended in general. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.
