I looooovvveeed this book. I loved the illustrations and how it brought history to life. The last chapter about the Siege of Chateau Gaillard was the best part of the book for me because it brought a real event in history to life with illustrations and a primary source diary that gives you a first person POV of the battle. I’m not sure if that is a real primary source, if it’s paraphrased from a real primary source, or if a primary source from De Lacy actually exists or if it’s fictional based the events of the battle. Anyway I really enjoyed it, it was the highlight of the chapter. After reading that chapter I looked up the pictures of the castle today and I feel like I can still see the battle happening!! So much to the castle still stands it’s crazy!! I loved this book, it was so informative in a fun and captivating way!!!
