It's incredibly brave to be able to write your own story, let alone a story that has the potential to be degraded and persecuted. I think this is a wonderful, easy to read book about another's experiences and gives perspective most people don't see or are unwilling to see. I learned some things, and it also helped comfort me that I'm not alone that learning new things can be challenging, but worth overcoming. It truly doesn't hurt you to be nice to others and try to see things from another's point of view.

Thank you for this gift, Maia - I feel so seen

Loved and appreciated the story, but strongly disliked the writing

Feels like e is just listing things that happened rather than connecting them into a narrative

The dialog all feels super stilted and not what people actually said in real life at all

Really wanted to see em delve deeper into the conflict with es parents and relatives that struggled with the pronoun change. That seemed like really fertile ground and e kinda glosses over it

Such a good book. I think this is a perfect read for any teen coming to terms with their identity. I found so many parts very relatable and the story is told so well.
