a quick read, but honestly was very repetitive - the title was all that was necessary to convey the point of this book. not sure how much of it is pseudo-science but was comforting at least

I've read just about as much as I can handle of this book (about 3/4). I think the premise is SUPER IMPORTANT and very true and relevant. The more you try to restrict your diet, the more your body will fight back with cravings, binges, "food addiction" etc. We are all just animals, after all, and our biological urge to eat cannot be tricked because we feel like our bodies should be smaller than they are. Allow all the foods and accept your body where it is. This is a very good, very true message.

My problem with the book is that it could have been half the length. Where the book is great is where the author relies on history (the initial sharing of a study done on conscientious objectors and starvation is FASCINATING), studies, trials, etc. Where it is not great is in it's redundancy. The author basically says the same thing over and over, just changing the chapter names. And it's often very vague while being repetitive, like FEEL YOUR EMOTIONS. Ok great, but like in what way? How is that practical advice, no matter how many ways your phrase it?

I follow the writer on Instagram and I love her style, snark, and ease, but this book, simply in it's writing and, again, not in its message, falls short for me.

DID NOT FINISH: 14%

It didn’t seem factually correct.

This book says binge eating disorder doesn't exist and if you have a binge eating problem you should just... keep binging. Years ago this book triggered my relapse into BED. Yes, ultimately it was my choice to eat food in excess and my relapse was my responsibility, but this book is vile and disgusting. Can't believe I gave it a high rating back then.

3.5-4... Loved the stats and science included - the organization made it hard to pause in between sections and at times found it difficult to relate to the examples provided. Overall fantastic framework and exercises provided throughout building one upon the other

I like the different insights that this book gives. There a things of which I think are quite good, there are also parts that I wasn't too sure about.

I think there are really good writing prompts, tips, and concepts but I’m not sure I am in a space to fully agree. I’m still working through life but I do think this is a perfect book for people out there. Just not me at this time.
