Okay, this book was good, REALLY good. I hate the feeling I get when starting a new book, with it being confusing and all. But once I got into the story? I. Was. Hooked.
Once Alix started interviewing Josie I was getting really into it. It didn’t take me a long time before I started making speculations about what was going on (Erin & Roxy). The story was really interesting and intriguing and the foreshadowing? Chefs kiss.
I really thought this book was going to be it for me. I was convinced this would be a five star read. But there were two things that made me give it four stars:
1. The Ending. With all that foreshadowing and buildup I was expecting this earth shattering mind blowing ending. Don’t get me wrong I wasn’t at all disappointed whit what we got, but at the same time it just wasn’t entirely enough. I was shocked by the ending and I didn’t at all see it coming, but also there was this voice in my brain saying: that’s it? Idk how exactly to explain it. Also there were a couple of loose threads, which meant that it wasn’t a completely wrapped up ending. Which for me can go both ways, and in this instance it was a tiny bit underwhelming.
2. Josie’s past. I’m trying to be vague here so I don’t spoil anything. But for people who have read the book I’m sure you understand what I mean when I say Josie’s past. The way it was handled? Like it wasn’t a big deal, and totally normal. I didn’t like that. Like Walter, and the way she described how she met him. It gave me the ick.
But wow Lisa Jewell is a good writer. Will definitely read more of her books.

I love a good mystery and this was definitely one. But I’ll be honest, I hated the ending. I need a more solid conclusion than that. Anyone else??!
It had a fun layout/writing style and was quick to suck you in.

I was gripped the whole way through, and finished the book in two days. However, I felt the ending left me with too many unanswered questions. I didn't feel that everything was tied together in the end, and was just left confused (and not just regarding Josie's lies).
I was also waiting for a big twist which never really came.
It was enjoyable but I needed more.
