Interesante historia corta de los orígenes de el Oscuro. Cómo me gusta ese personaje.

This is a kind of prequel story about the Darkling, and being so short there is not a lot to go on here. We don't find anything major about him, but there are a few things that the author seemed to want to emphasise about him in this, namely his humanity, the importance of his real name to him (and his mom), and what shapes his desire for building a safe place, especially for Grisha. There are also some hints about his dad that seem to contradict what Baghra told Alina in [b:Ruin and Rising|14061957|Ruin and Rising (Grisha Verse, #3)|Leigh Bardugo|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1392398530s/14061957.jpg|19699754], and that was interesting! Pity we don't have anything else to go on about that. But honestly, I really like the Darkling, that soft spot inside that hard shell.

Ouchie
In the eerie, muffled silence of the water, he heard his mother's voice, vicious like a whip crack. She was always asking more of him, demanding it, and now she told him to fight. She spoke his true name, the one she only used when they trained, the name tattooed on his heart. A heart that had not stopped beating. A heart that still had life.

If you're a fan of Grishaverse, you should absolutely read this short-story. Honestly, I wish this were longer -- there are so many unanswered questions about the Darkling, but some are answered in this text.
I low key miss the Darkling? Like, not it a "justifying anything he's ever done way", but in a "hey he was actually a really cool character and I don't think I gave this series enough credit when I first read it" way. This world is just so cool.
