This is an interesting book, the majority of it is set over a mere two days and you could call it a coming of age book if you wanted to stretch it a bit.
Sky isn't sure what she wants to do with her life, she's finished school bit isn't sure what, if anything, she wants to study at uni. On a whim she decides to take a trip to visit her uncles in Western Australia.
They're a whimsical pair, obsessed with searching a beach on the edge of the desert for an old wreck. They take Sky to see the place, which is on the edge of a forest made of wood that has turned to stone over time.
While they are there one uncle gets sick and the other has to go for help, a surprise visitor drops out of the sky.
The climax of the story deal with the question of whether those left on the beach will be found in time and how Sky finds out what she wants to do.
The witty banter through this book made it worth while for me, as well as the relationship between the uncles and Sky which grows through the book.
