This is a story of a woman who goes on a reality show about Victorian times. I thought it was a comedy, but there a weak romance and ridiculous sex scenes. I'm struggling to get through it and wouldn't be surprised if I didn't finish it.

Really cute story about a larger woman who has poor self esteem over her body entering a reality show and falling in love with her co-star. I like how the heroine is not some stick thin bimbo, what a refreshing change!
Warning: contains X rated content, whew!!!

FUNNY! Loved this book. I have read every Katie MacAlister book I can get my hands on. Just love her writing style. Love that her lead characters are so relateable.

In this book the lead character agrees to go on a reality show and it's just a hoot. I may have to reread this one again one of these days. Just thinking about all the crazy stuff that happens makes me smile.

A brainless quick read. Nice book for the summer that isn't too involved.

Wow, this book was terrible. I'm not sure why I read the whole thing, i guess that's why it gets 2 stars instead of one- clearly something was good enough to keep me from abandoning it. but seriously, did not like her obsession with talking about her 'chunky' weight (which i realize is something many women struggle with, but found it a distracting side issue that really had no importance to the overall story, so why bother bringing it up all the time?), did not understand her emotional journey (took about 2 minutes for her to fall in love with him??), was frustrated by the whole premise (there seemed to be very little about the whole Victorian re-enactment that actually affected the storyline - even the corset stopped being mentioned after awhile. really wish her historical background would have meant she was more interested in the historical aspect of the experiment), etc, etc.

I think my biggest problem with the book was that it really just threw away an opportunity at integrating a romance story into a terribly interesting premise. instead it was just a mediocre romance into a bland story.

The book would have definitely been improved by delaying the sexual consummation of the relationship- give more time for the development of their relationship and let the tension build longer.

have read better sex scenes and story climaxes in trashy historical romance novels. just go read one of those instead.

I really liked the concept of the book. However, I felt that the romance was really rushed and felt one sided. If both perspectives were given, I think that would help readers understand the progression of the relationship. I enjoyed it the book but it was hard to really root for a couple when I didn't understand the progress of their relationship.

The Corset Diaries has all trademarks of Katie MacAlister's style.

What I Liked?
+ Heroine does not have perfect body and is unsure in her appearance, but thanks to hero's support she gains her confidence.
+ The idea of contemporary people reenacting Victorian way of life.
+ Heroine is blabbermouth (KMA's trademark.)
+ Hero is a single parent.
+ Cast of quirky side characters. (Another KMA's trademark.)

What could have been better?
- Hero is perfectly handsome. I would have liked him to be just an ordinary looking guy.
- Characters are like caricatures with over-played personal flaws and traits.
- Insta-lust and then zap it was insta-love...

The Corset Diaries reminded me of [b:Austenland|248483|Austenland (Austenland, #1)|Shannon Hale|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1440426937s/248483.jpg|1138972], but with better humor and romance. I just wish the problems of modern people living in Victorian age were more described. Still, a fun, light romance novel perfect for the summer.
