Another solid book from Marillier! I enjoyed this more than the last Sevenwaters book featuring Sibeal. It didn't quite capture all the magic of some of the earlier books, but I still found myself enchanted with the Sevenwaters clan and eagerly staying up late to drink in the latest saga.
I liked Maeve, as we've heard brief asides from her since book 3 but never really knew how she fared. I enjoyed her relationship with Finbar, and did not see. I'm also glad we got some glimpses of other book characters once again. Everyone's happy and (spoiler for earlier books, just in case you're crazy and haven't read them yet)
Glad to see we finally get some resolution in the Otherworld. I wonder if Marillier will continue on with this series or if she finds this to be a fulfilling conclusion. It would be very interesting to see a book from Finbar's perspective once he gets older.

2 new Marillier books in one year? Woohoo! I really thought she was finished with Sevenwaters, but I'm so glad to see that isn't the case!

her falling in love with Bear really coming. I briefly thought Marillier might go there, but I was still thinking Luachan was the love interest. I'm happy he wasn't though, because I was going to complain that there was no spark there whatsoever and he was pretty lame compared to the likes of Red, Bran, or Cathal.Spoiler

Tied with 'Heir of Sevenwaters' as my outstanding favourites from the series (or possibly even my favourite). Deep, rich characters with incredible plot-turns that revolve much less around the author's seeming cookie-cutter romantic overlay that weakens the others in the series. Fabulously written, incredible emotional depth and fantastic adventure. It's possible that I enjoyed it so much due to my affinity for the lead characters from her other books set in this world. Plainly said, I loved it!
Great most of the way through, but the ending was a little odd and abrupt.
The entire story was extremely predictable, the characters were shallow, and Maeve was a bit of an annoying character. Overall though it's a fun read and I enjoyed it despite my listed annoyances.
The story is utterly predictable and the main character is too suspicious of every other character around, maybe with good reason, but it seems to get out of hand and there is no reason WHY she should feel that way expect she doesn't trust anyone. It was a fun read, but I wouldn't want to read it again unlike the other series I've read by her.
God bless Juliet Marillier, her Sevenwaters books are always a fantastic read.
The end feels like it's setting up for a book about Ciaran, which I wouldn't complain about at all. :)

This isn't on the same level as the original Sevenwaters trilogy, but it's still pretty good. These last three books are definitely more of a YA Fantasy, not as complex, but still entertaining. The language also felt a little more modern that the rest of the books.
I still really love the way that Juliet tells a story. I loved how resilient, strong and determined Maeve was and how she always fought for what she thought was right. The romance, however, felt a bit rushed and nonsensical, but I liked that she got her happily ever after.
Juliet Marillier does a very good job of tidily tying up other story lines from the series.

I wasn’t crazy about this last one. I liked Maeve but the dog thing was too much although I guess it does sort of bring the story full circle. I’m ranting bc I just finished it. Whatever it’s a3.5. I liked the sisters and their stories for the most part but I would’ve like to hear more of Liadan and Bran’s perspectives and their sons. The first three books were the best in the series. Ok bye
