Whelp, I've come to the end of Juliet Mariller's second trilogy. I admit this one was the book which I was most excited to read as there's just not many disabled protagonists in fantasy fiction compared to able-bodied ones. I was interested to see how Mariller would tell this tale and I admit, I had my fears. In many fantasy books I have read which feature a hero with a disability; magic usually comes into play, rendering their disability a non-issue or curing it altogether. I admit, I feared Mariller made tread down this path, as I've seen other great writers do. I'm thrilled to say she didn't. Maeve doesn't end the story cured and with a functioning set of hands and clear face. She's burned and she'll carry those scars and limitations forever. And guess what? It's only a fraction of her bittersweet ending.
She does help bring an end to the villain, but the victory comes at the cost of her great-uncle Cirian's freedom. She finds love, but said love takes her away from the little brother she has so bonded with. Her tension with her mom is not resolved and they still have issues to work through.
Satisfying conclusion for sure; good sending for the Sevenwaters family Though I couldn't add it to my favorite list because I just didn't love it as much as I loved other books in this series which made the list.

Are these books over? I can't tell. I kind of want one about Eilis though. Galicia! That'd be cool.
Fitting conclusion to the series. Felt that the ends all tied together a bit too nicely, and the hastily-thrown-in romantic-plot was unnecessary, but it was a fun read and a nice farewell to memorable characters
Marillier continues to be one of my favorite fantasy authors. Thanks, Juliet!

I usually don't review Juliet Marillier books but this one made me breathe with relief. I must confess that the seer of sevenwaters disappointed me, so i was afraid this one would too.
But it didn't. Although I could predict things far ahead I still was there right beside Maeve in all her journey.
I wish this one wasn't the last. But if it was it was great!

It's hard to believe that I have finally finished all six books, yet I am very pleased and happy that I have. I've also been very grateful that such a series has been laid upon me and I have had a greater experience reading this masterpiece. Juliet Mariller is an exceptional writer and I hope that she will continue writing her story's for all the world to read. It is apparent to me that this book, Flame of Sevenwaters, is the last book of her Sevenwaters series, making it more challenging to finish reading, as I never thought of these sequence of stories ever ending. But despite my misery of concluding the long adventures of Sorcha descendants, this particular book has found a place in my heart (along with its predecessor's) and will definitely stay with me for the rest of my life. I recommend this series, full of admiral, loving characters with powerful as well as heart-breaking and heart-warming story plot's, to anyone and everyone.
