My second middle grade 9/11 book this month, Towers Falling was short and a quick listen on audio. It is narrated by the author, and I was not in love with the way she portrayed her main character, though as the author, she must have meant her to come across the way she did! This book seemed like it would make for some great class discussions, and in fact my 11 year old’s 6th grade class is reading this book now too. I appreciated this look at how 9/11 has effected various types of people and their families.

Follows a 10 year old girl, born after 9/11, learn about the event. Rhodes does a good job of integrating learning about 9/11 and it's effects on our main characters modern life.

audiobook 18 of 2020.

I think approximately 51% of my opinion in an audiobook is the narrator. and I could not stand the narrator (when speaking as the child). unfortunately this jaded my perspective of this book a lot.

This book is about a homeless girl going to a new school and the school starts teaching about the twin towers. when her dad finds out about this, he becomes upset. then, with the help of her new friends, she finds out more about the towers falling and her family's past. To be honest, this book was a big disapointment for me. I thought this book would have more about the towers falling, but it ws more about her family's situation. One thing I liked about the book is that it was very well written. One thing I disliked about the book is that it was pretty boring. It just lacked a strong climax that a normal book would have. Anyway, really disapointed with this book.

I absolutely loved this book so much I try to read it every year to my students and plan to read it in memory of September 11th. Many kids do not know about this historic event because it was in 2001. It is an interesting take on the event because the main character doesn't know about that past even though she lives so close to monument. I also find it interesting to see how the teacher tries to teach this event to her students using different resources and ideas. My students always ask to finish this book once we have read a few chapters.

This was a great book and one that I will have my 11-year-old son read. It gives a great perspective of how our kids born after 9/11 can relate to the event that changed America.

This book is compelling and should definitely be used to help teach upper elementary and middle school students about 9/11 in a way that is relatable. That being said, I did not enjoy the audiobook. The audio book could have greatly benefited from a professional voice actor instead of the author. I still loved the book but probably wouldn't recommend the audiobook version.
