This was a bit of an oddity. I knew nothing going in and so my intrigue, trying to figure out what the hell was going on and what it was all about, kept me going, as well as the fact that I love a Victorian setting (though the dialogue sometimes felt too modern), and I love clockwork too... It did however feel pretty slow, with not much of a plot, and the plot and mystery there is was a bit confusing, I'm still not sure that I fully understand what was going on and who did what or why.

A clockwork fantasy
A beautifully written story about friends, possibility, and different cultures. I won't comment on the plot as that would give too much away however the main characters are engaging, the pacing excellent and the plot is well thought out. The main aspect of the book is fantastical and brilliantly and slowly revealed. I recommend you read it!!!

slow beginning but sweet and entertaining. I did not like Grace but loved Mori and the book was the perfect distraction from my responsibilities.

I had high hopes based on the blurb, though that the bad reviews were probably because people had an issue with the story having queer characters but this story was very disappointing because:
1. The one woman we see that has a mind of her own and goals turns out to be the villain in the most cliche and homophobic way.
2. Once it was established, that since it's historical, that most characters were racist, this behavior kept being highlighted when it wasn't necessary, when it did nothing for the story.
3. The ending.
