The more I reflect on this book, the more I love it. At first I was put off by the confusion I had towards the genre and plot, but it grew on me. I really liked the way everything came together at the end. It will definitely make it onto my reread list.

Incredibly strong beginning and was absolutely loving it... but then the climax and denouement was a bit off and ruined the book for me. Some of the plot elements were a bit questionable. But will look forward to more from this author after she irons out the kinks!

DNF

This book started out really strong and had the perfect ending, even if I would rather push Grace into a river than see her have a happily ever after.

Great individual parts, but not a great story

This book was very interesting and a nice beach read. However, I feel like I need another read to really grasp everything that happened.

"The Watchmaker of Filigree Street" blends together history, mystery, and steampunk in an enchanting manner. The subtle touches of the fantastical, particularly the concept of clairvoyance and the intricacies of the watchmaking art, add a layer of magic to the story without overwhelming it.
Pulley introduces us to a cast of intriguing characters set against the backdrop of Victorian London immersing the readers in the intricacies of Victorian society and the charm of Japanese culture during a time of great change.
Thaniel Steepleton, the protagonist, is a relatable character who navigates the mysteries of his life with a sense of wonder. His encounters with Keita Mori, the enigmatic watchmaker, are the heart of the story. Pulley does a remarkable job of gradually unraveling Mori's past and motivations, keeping the reader intrigued and invested. Grace Carrow, the determined, strong-willed Oxford physicist, adds another layer to the narrative, in a beautiful contrast with Thaniel's more reserved personality, creating a dynamic relationship.
While the story threads may seem confusing at first, Pulley manages to tie them together in the end, delivering a satisfying and unexpected conclusion.
