It only took me so long to get around to reading this because of the graphic "Ceremony" scenes in the TV series, which I ceased watching. Atwood's commentary on feminism and reproduction is razor sharp and I was prompted to finally engage with the text after reading "Witchcraft for Wayward girls" by Grady Hendrix. This shares many of the themes of women being merely incubators, not agents of their own bodies. Both books highlighted how blessed I am to be me, here, now.
