I think I just feel very underwhelmed by this book. I can certainly see why a lot of people I know enjoy it. There were some scenes I really liked and it was an enjoyable read, but Gideon’s dialogue was just very corny and irked me at times and Muir didn’t create the emotional impact she seemed to be trying to in some key scenes. I think I’ll probably read the sequel, though, as the use of second person narration intrigues me.

Holy Hell.
What an incredible book.
It’s witty, it’s dark, it’s bloody and I’m absolutely in love.
It was made even better with Moira Quirk lending voice to this dynamic story.
I will treasure this first read forever.

Genuinely can't stress this more: go into this blind, and expect your experience of the book to be unique to what you might've heard online. It's really hard to describe what this story is actually about, so it's best to experience it firsthand and draw your own conclusions :)

I HATED Harrowhark when I started, and I am so glad she managed to change my mind.
The worldbuilding was heavy and at times confusing, but the dialogue was engaging and refined and the fight scenes were cinematic.
