Solid 3 stars
This book just wasnt for me. I love a good sports romance but I felt like it was a really dumb move for the main guy to be fighting/wrestling someone after he was seriously injured previously. (Yes it was for a noble reason but it was just so incredibly stupid). The main guy also comes off as misogynistic sometimes, calling some girls whores and I hated the way him and his bestie would talk- constantly talking about girls being only good for sex. It was really immature.

I’m a sucker for so many things that this book offers.
It was raw and emotional.
So many real life things in it that made me really love it. Working class people, tragedy and loneliness.
No unnecessary misunderstandings etc.
Pretty straightforward and I really appreciated that.
The real issues at hand were more than enough to supply all the emotions!
I loved the main characters and the glimpses of a few secondary characters.
The ending! Oh, my!! I was on the verge of tears for many reasons.
Loved it!

I'm really between a 4 and a 4.5...
I have some doubts, there was a situation I really disliked, and also I was hoping the end was more big, more spectacular? More extensive and emotional, maybe.
But damn! it was good and it made me sweat, made my heart beat, made me smile and cry a little too, so yeah. It was a great book!

Sacrifice
By Adriana Locke
Narrated by Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell

So when I can't sleep, what do I do? I turn on a book. No one told me this one would not put me to sleep though! Riveting. Emotional. Scary. Frustrating. Tragic. Sad. Happy. Adriana Locke gave it all to me as I lay in bed listening. Julia lost her husband unexpectedly in a car accident as he was going to pick up his brother, Crew. Now several years later, she still finds herself so angry and sad, trying to support herself and daughter and then has to contend with Crew. Then life throws her a curve ball no one could see coming. Crew is there by her side, taking the position he always wanted but didn't realize it. Unfortunately, the situation is grim, and he is going to do the only thing he can to help. Will it work? I don't even know where to start with the feelings this book gives. It's a book of how much the human spirit can take before caving. It's unconditional love, willing to give up everything to help those you love. It is a book in need of tissues, and the ending had me on the edge! I loved this story, from start to finish, and no, I never did fall back asleep(I blame the narration!).

Speaking of narration, Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell are our performers and they captured every emotion imaginable. My heart was angry at first, then the heaviness set in. The fear and building love grew. And then the glimmer of hope. Only this team could bring all of this out, create the emotional journey and find our way to hope and love.

What a book!

This book grips you the moment you start reading. I fell in love with the characters. The book is so well written that you feel part of it all, you feel every emotion of each character and you go on this journey with them. I was rooting for them but the way it was written i had no idea how it would end. I knew this book would be sad and gripping but WOW!!

The last few chapters really grips you and part of me wanted to read on and find out what happens but at the same time i didnt want to read on in case they didn't get a happy ending..

But wow, this book got so many tears out of me especially at the end like what a twist, my stomach dropped!! ( i won't spoil it!)

Only issue i had was the epilogues. All that build up of his sacrifices and their struggle for their daughter and we didn't get much extra info on their story. But definitely read if you're after a tear jerk book!

Adriana Locke is an evil author. You know the kind. Forces you to fall in love with the characters...Twists your arm until you want to give them the shirt off your back...Makes you love/care/feel for them. Yea one of those authors!

So Crew Gentry, Jules, and Everly become a part of your family. You watch it all unfold with a helplessness rival to their own. There's nothing you can do to help. Nothing but feel it all with them.

You hope, pray, and beg for help. Not even sure it will come. Maybe you try to barter...offer to switch places...Its all in vain. The story has been written. The end is already established. All you can do is hope...

Sometimes even that isn't enough!

Be prepared: Tissues, chocolate, and alcohol might help but won't take away the pain. You have been warned.

This slow burn, second chance romance absolutely leveled me. The writing is extremely emotionally charged from the beginning to the end.

I was given an advanced copy of the audio and the narration was captivating and stunning. Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell are one of my favorite narrating duos! I felt everything these characters felt. They completely delivered Crew and Julia’s story. And little Everleigh broke my heart!

Can’t wait for more form Adriana Locke

I’m not sure how it happened but somehow this book ended on my TBR list and since I’d never read something from this author I thought to give it a chance. I didn’t live it, in fact it took more than I expected, it was king of engaging but there were a few things o didn’t like.

I would have rather a longer story but a slow burning romance between Crew and Julia. I read one minute she was resentful and mad at him and the next taking her panties off. Ever, well that kid was kind of annoying to me. I was weirded out about how she started calling her uncle daddy all of a sudden ... and finally the end, well I kind of see that one coming so I guess it’s ok but not that great.

I’ll definitely read something from the same author in the future but for now I think I’m in the mood for something else.

This is probably the first second chance love story that I've read in a really long time. I went into it with an open mind and an open heart. I knew I would get my heart shattered, and yeah I was right. I knew it would be rebuilt, yup right again. I fell so hard for the love that Crew and Julia have, and the adorable Everleigh didn't hurt any. If this was made into a movie I'd watch it over and over again, wasn't overly cheesy, just enough love. I would definitely recommend this book to others because you will devour this book like I did.
