Gosh, I don’t even know where to start with this—these books have started digging there way into a permanent spot in my heart. The Runaway Ranch series are books full of romantic suspense, strong women, and swoon-worthy dirty talking men.

In Burn the Wild, we follow Ford—the ex baseball player turned cowboy and Reese—the larger than life country singer with a black hole hanging over her. These books manage to bring out so many feelings in me, both good and bad, which is what I always search for in a book. As someone with her own black hole who also gets sad, I cannot explain some of the accuracies with my own experiences like Reese’s. And while we’re strong on our own, having someone there like Ford who supports and understand is a dream and I loved reading about it.

The suspense and mystery in these books are also one of my favorite things! I love the unhinged characters and I love that these cowboys really would go to any lengths for their family. The Runaway Ranch family just keeps growing and while they’re tight-knit and some are hard to warm up to, the care and support they give one another is so heartwarming. Also, I caught onto a hint in this book and COULD NOT be prouder of myself lol.

Ford and Reese are explosive and sweet with amazing banter and a crazy understanding of each other. I devoured this book in just under two days and now I’ll just be impatiently waiting for the next book in the Runaway Ranch series!! I’m already dreading this series being over and we still have a few more books coming😭 I highly recommend Burn the Wild and it’s 2 previously released companions!

FMC: Reese Austin (26)
MMC: Ford Montgomery (37)
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Pages: 459
Tropes: Small Town Romance, Cowboy Romance, Age Gap, City Girl/Country Boy, Friends with Ben’s, Mental Health Rep, Romantic Suspense
Setting: Resurrection, Montana

Thoughts: This was a great book full of so much healing for both Ford and Reese. It really dove into the realities of depression and what that can look like. Both Ford and Reese dealt with depression and it looked very different for each of them. Ford was harsh and mean and struggled to let new people in. Reese trusted the wrong person and became a puppet. But they found a common ground that changed the way their viewed each other.

When Reese found her way to Resurrection she was lost and beaten down. But she landed right where she belonged. She won over Ford and then his brothers. She found a close group of women who became some of her first real friends in Ruby, Dakota, and Fallon. I loved her growth over the course of the book.

I really liked that the relationship between the Montgomery brothers keeps growing with each book. I liked seeing Davis and Dakota and Charlie and Ruby so settled. And I am dying for more Wyatt and Fallon. I have a feeling their book is going to destroy me but I cannot wait!
