I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is book 1 of the Orlov Bratva duet & isn't a standalone. The book ends with a thrilling cliffhanger so be prepared to have to read two books to find out the end of Paige & Misha's story. The synopsis gives you a good idea of what to expect. It's an excellent surprise baby & marriage of convenience dual pov mafia romance.

Although Paige finds herself in hopeless situations, she is a fighter who makes practical decisions. Her upbringing has taught her how to not give up & protect her interests. Her bold spirit is part of what attracts Misha's attention. She isn't scared to stand her ground against him, make him compromise, & push him for answers. She is also vulnerable too & perhaps that is what makes Misha more drawn to her. But, when she realizes that Misha cannot give her what she needs, she knows that she will not settle for less.

As the Don & someone who is grieving, Misha has walls around him & is used to others obediently following his orders. He has distanced himself from his loved ones & has focused on getting revenge. While his desire for revenge never fades, Paige begins to threaten everything else & it bothers him more than he's willing to admit. Naturally, he begins to deny those feelings & says & does some things that will upset readers but it creates the perfect angst. I loved seeing his emotions be stirred & then wonder how he was going to mess up next. I say that with the expectation of thinking he's going to regret it once he falls even harder for her.

The romance is a slow burn building up wonderfully for the next book but there is enough spice & moments full of tension, & a bit of hate, to keep readers more than satisfied. Again, if you love angst & a push & pull relationship, then you certainly won't be disappointed. Aside from the romance, you will like Misha's family. I would like to see his cousin, sister, & even his sister in law get their own books. The mafia action actually adds to the plot & is interesting enough too. The book will have you eagerly turning the pages & wanting to have the next book available to read once you finish this one.

Tbh I can't really say anything bad about this book like it was an enjoyable read. I got to admit that the pregnancy trope is one of my guilty pleasures so I loved this book. The only reason for why I didn't give it 5 stars its just that I felt like it wasn't something that I'd remember forever like it didn't leave an imprint on me but overall if you like the pregnancy trope I'd recommend this book.

The FMC also makes him grovel

Misha & Paige: Not really liking Misha too much

This book came highly recommended by different Facebook groups I’m in. I usually try to avoid this author’s books because I have been disappointed with them in the past. Nicole Fox seems to enjoy the pregnancy trope, which I love. However, once the preggo bomb did dropped, it’s as if it isn’t a factor moving forward and the story takes you somewhere you didn’t expect to end up. Against my better judgement, I decided to read it and what I got from this book is more of the same.

Paige is a down on her luck woman who has been bamboozled by her ex and ends up temporary homeless and hungry. She meets Misha, the new Bratva boss unaware of who he is and she has a one night stand with him. After a whole lot of drama in between, She soon finds herself married to Misha in a marriage of convenience when she really wants more.

Call me petty but it really bothers me when the term “Don” is used when it’s really “Pakhan”. I can understand Mischa’s reluctance to allow anyone to get close to him but he was overly cruel to her. Her life was threatened three times and you would think it would wake him up to acknowledge his feelings for Paige. Well, it didn’t.

Ends in a cliffhanger. Honestly, being a KU subscriber is the only reason why I’m going to read the second book in the series but at this point, I expect more of the same.

Happy reading!

I may be like Paige (broke, single, and craving pizza), but I’d personally never do it on a balcony with my cheeks in the wind
