The only thing the MMC has done so far is be horrifically mean to the FMC (who is pregnant with his fucking baby!) and insult her trauma.
I liked the FMC, but she puts up with it way too much and is still concerned about whether he likes her or not. No chemistry between them whatsoever and no reason for the reader to feel invested in their story.

"I’m tired of giving my best to men who don’t deserve it."
This was meh. It's a guilty pleasure, for sure.
Like, it was alright, but it felt like it was missing something.
It's a typical brooding male mafia lead with the damsel in distress, and they can't be together. It's very cliche and predictable, but I still was entertained. There were times when I was annoyed with the characters and the plotline.
The wins definitely come from Paige character, and we see her development and growth.
I love the involvement of side characters, it gives a better understanding of the family dynamic and Misha's personality.
That ending definitely was a cliffhanger.
"No woman looks like that at a man she doesn’t care about. That realization probably scares her as much as it’s scaring me. I want to stop her. I want to tell her to wait. But for what? I’m not sure. So I let her go. For both our sakes."

I have mixed feelings on this book. I love this authors works and she’s an immediate read for me. While this story isn’t bland by any means, considering the authors past work, I expected more. So much of the story so far is the couple bouncing back and forth on their feels for one another and usually this author adds so much more to the story. I expected more challenges outside the relationship and while there is an enemy, not much has happened with him. I’m hoping book 2 pulls this duet together for me. With all that being said, this story is over 600 pages and I kept reading, so that says something about this authors abilities.
