Although there were a couple standout pieces and original plot points, the majority of Vermin relied upon recycled character arches and relationships. The protagonist is always depicted in a similar fashion, judgemental of her circumstances yet submissive to the narrative. Funny and creative writing throughout, but overall kinda meh.

3.5 — really LOVED a couple of the stories, but many of them didn’t quite catch me. I loved the variety of setting and character, though.

I enjoyed reading this, but only two of the twenty stories in this collection really stuck with me. The strongest we’re Chicken, This is a Test, and A Good Long Life.
