DNF @ 18%. I tried. I truly did, but this was way too word-y. Too much explaining. Too Basil-y. I apologize to all of the Basils in the world for that comment. His mother named him after her favorite herb. Her favorite herb!!! Jeez.

Once a betrayer to her pack, Audrey is now Beta for the Aspen pack, fighting many personal emotions from tied in with the packs violent history.
Gavin is the newly arrived Tracker but there is something about him that isn't quite right.

While Audrey battles with her own demons and tries to work out why she is receiving weird vibes from the newest pack member, they have to face a new demon. One that they believed was a myth.

While I have read most of Carrie Ann's work, I am able to predict where the storyline is heading. Well I thought I could...She is the master of word building to make you think that things are heading in one direction and then she throws a curve ball at you.

I can't wait for the rest of the series to see where this is heading.

Action packed from start to finish! Plenty of drama within the Pack plus outside forces trying to destroy Aspen and surrounding Packs.

This first-in-the-series story introduces us to many members of the Aspen Pack, provides a little background info on some of the members and finds them fighting a new enemy.

The main focus is on Audrey and Gavin. Without revealing their story, suffice it to say that theirs is an emotional journey…but with a new threat to their Pack, all of the Aspen members unite to fight. But will it be enough to defeat the enemy? Can a Pack so horribly damaged by their former Alpha heal together and defend themselves?

A great beginning to an action packed series!

This is a great start to the new Aspen Pack series. We have seen the Aspen pack before in previous series, when their Alpha was wreaking havoc on the other packs in the area.

There have been many changes, a new Alpha and most of the top hierarchy positions in the pack... except the Beta. Audrey is one of the few who felt the pain and suffering in the pack and was unable to help, she was controlled and tortured.

This story focuses on Audrey and the traumatic time she has had, and we meet Gavin who is new to the pack... but maybe not new to Audrey - there is plenty of intrigue and action, with mysteries and new unexpected villains.

This is an enjoyable read, and looking forward to more Aspen pack stories.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

Etched in Honor is a great start to this new series! When the story opens Audrey is a lion shifter who is the Beta of her pack. Although she is a great Beta, she keeps a part of herself separate from the pack, so as to hide her pain and trauma from them. She is one of the only survivors of the upper hierarchy from their former Alpha who had turned evil, and she has also hidden from the pack the pain of finding her mate and then having him die. However, when Gavin joins their pack as a tracker, she is shocked to find he looks exactly like her mate, which brings back all of that pain for her again. Unknown to her, Gavin's life started anew years ago when he found himself somewhere not knowing who he was or where he came from, but is confused by his reaction to Audrey and hers to him.

This first in the series had a lot going on. I'm somewhat new to Carrie Ann Ryan, and have only read some of the Aspen pack books recently. Although you don't need to have read any of those previous series to follow along, my guess is that some of the background to the story would have been more familiar for me if I had. I'm a sucker for two tropes that don't exactly fit here, but have elements that do - amnesia and rejected mate tropes. Although this story isn't exactly either of those, there was a lot of the angst here that you find in those stories and I really loved that. I can't wait now for the next in this series and plan to catch up on the other series while I'm waiting.

An exciting, emotional and mysterious introduction to the Aspen Pack.

Audrey is the Beta of the Aspen Pack. Not a wolf but a lioness who has been with a pack for a great deal of time. She is strength, combined with beauty and a natural born leader. Her whole purpose is for the betterment of the pack. When a new member joins their pack a bit of Aubrey‘s past is staring her back in the eye. It can’t be possible or can it

Gavin is the new Tracker for the Aspen Pack. A lone wolf from England he feels like he has always been a part of the Aspens. Except he doesn’t understand upon meeting Beta why she doesn’t like him like the other Pack members seem too. While trying to figure out what the issue may be a surprise attack comes from an unknown enemy. Not only does this put the Pack in danger Gavin soon realizes the years of memories that he’s missing are all of a sudden back in his head.

What an amazing introduction to the Aspen pack. Etched in Honor Is a fantastic beginning and introduction to what is going to be an exciting new series. Aubrey and Gavin I have a story that will break your heart and make you fall in love all over again. I love how the two of them work together to find themselves, a friendship, to be pack mates and even more to find love. The story is emotional. There’s danger learning on the page and there is love to be found. My favorite kind of read.

Carrie Ann Ryan knows how to get her readers emotionally invested in her characters.

Heartbreaking romance in the midst of a suspenseful supernatural world…

From the start I was so engrossed in this richly painted world of the Redwood and Talon packs but now we are brought into a new or renewed pack, the Aspens. Audrey is a wonderful character, she’s loving to her friends and pack, she is loyal to a fault and smart and self reliant. But she has seen and felt much sadness. At first I didn’t want to like Gavin. He eventually wins Audrey and me over. Chase, the Alpha, and many other characters grab some of the storyline and really make this tale exciting. I can’t wait to get into more of the fated matings and see how they fight the big baddies. Great read!

An action packed start to a new series. So many great characters with lots of connections to keep you interested. There is trouble coming and the Aspen's are going to have to quickly establish themselves to keep from being pulled into the darkness. Audrey and Gavin are a great couple and their story is full of steam. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Book 1 in Aspen Pack series by Carrie Ann Ryan
Audrey is pack Beta but that hasn’t come easily as her previous pack leader abused his position and held her captive and tortured her.
After finally winning the pack war and old pack leader son takes over and everyone try’s to make a new life and new members begin to settle and make a start.
This pack has a lot of different shifter and I find that really new for this writer that usually just has all wolf etc.
I love the twists in this book and developments that kept me hooked completely. Can’t wait for more audiobooks in this series.
Aiden Snow and Kit Swann do an absolutely amazing voices and do the book justice with there amazing narration.
