small town grumpy sunshine done right, this was so cute, funny, relatable and heartwarming.. yes, the tropes are often overused in books but this was done so well.

i was giggling audibly reacting, i loved all the relationships and the found family and i cannot wait for the rest of the series! for zoey and gauge’s story and levi’s book and laura i loved every single one of them so much! It’s being compared to gilmore girls and schists creek, a perfect description honestly i absolutely loved this

Omg this author doesn’t know when to end a book. I am exhausted. I loved the characters and the story line but the. It went on and on and on ten chapters too many

The beginning was so cute and then it turned to outright crap. What the heck was that. I hated it. Cam was manipulative, and is in no way ready for a relationship. I think it was a weird literary move for the relationship to fix itself in the last 10% of the book too. I just feel sick to my stomach after reading this book. It’s unhealthy, there were non-consensual and manipulative elements, and there was no real relationship. I laughed so much in the beginning, and I LOVE Bertha the raccoon. But I cannot justify toxic relationships, half assed apologies, gaslighting, weaponized incompetence, etc. I also know that the book was in the past tense because it’s like Hazel was talking to us and recounting her story, but it was just weird. I’ll give it a 1.5 for Zoey, the animals, and all Bishops BUT Cam.
