This book is kind of like a Hallmark movie meets Schitts Creek. It was funny and predictable. A good read for the summer if you like rom-coms.

This book was 500 pages for what? Cam to be an emotionally stunted manchild? Hazel to be the cringest millennial you’ve ever seen? This book could have been so god but it was trying to hard to be good that it missed the mark.

This book was described as Gilmore Girls meets Schitt's Creek and I could not agree more. I love a story of a girl really trying to find herself, even if she's shoved into the decision. The town of Story Lake was so cute and the gossip was hilarious. It was such a fun concept of the town going under and everyone rallying together to save it - also gave me a little bit of Parks and Recs vibes too. Hazel and her relationship with the Bishop family and Zoey was everything. Everyone was so full of love for Hazel once they got to know her, even though Hazel got off to a bit of a rough start thanks to Goose the bald eagle.

I think I related a lot to this book because it sort of paralleled my own life. Personally, I can relate to picking somewhere on a map because it looks fun and cute and moving on a whim. I can understand getting out of a relationship where you have forgotten who you are or that you are stronger than you think. Seeing Hazel come into her own and protect her heart against Cam and his trauma was inspiring to see. Her relationship with her mother got stronger too. Cam was such a fun book boyfriend. He was so flawed, but so fun and funny. He backed Hazel when it mattered.

I could not stop laughing throughout this book. It was dramatic in the best times. Humor really broke the tension when it needed to. The pacing of the book kept me intrigued and reading more. I really enjoyed this book so much. I cannot wait to spend more time in Story Lake in the future to see what it holds for the rest of the family and townspeople.
