Carissa has done it again. She’s always keeping me on my toes with this ever mysterious, slowly unfolding world full of darkness, secrets, and always breath taking romantic love in her Nyaxia series. I truly enjoy her storytelling and always fall head over heels for her MCs.

This book was a bit slower for me to get into, but by the end I was trying to put on the brakes to stave off the ending. Mostly because I know I’m going to have to wait another month for The Fallen and the Kiss of Dusk. Luckily, I have a full TBR to get me through the wait 😂

Also, I hope there is a novella for Alarus and Nyaxia. I’m sure that story in itself is a wild ride.

5 ⭐️’s I don’t think I have read a single main body of text in this series and not rated it 5 stars. Broadbent is an immediate buy. Mische & Asar… my babies.. my heart.. I can’t find anything negative to say about them. This story had me on the edge of my seat because I simply loved them that much. I truly wish I didn’t have to wait until next august to get their next book but I will… and in the meantime I will make everyone I know read these stories so that they can feel even just a drop of the amazement I have, having read everything in the world of the Crowns of Nyaxia!

I enjoyed this much more than the first two books in the series. I liked the premise of Mische and Asar having to delve into the afterlife and confront their own pasts and emotions all while becoming closer to each other during their quest. I loved both their characters.

It took me SO LONG to finally finish this book. I normally love Carissa Broadbent’s writing but this one felt like a drag. The plot felt incredibly repetitive and so I found myself not caring about how it ended which is a shame because I truly loved the two MCs.

Pretty much the entire book takes place in the underworld as they make their descent to the bottom and it felt like each level was the same with a slightly different relic discovered in each. They’d reach a new level, deal with a wave of wraiths, come close to death, nurse each others wounds, have a sweet moment with Luce, then discover the artifact/memory. Rinse. Repeat.

I am looking forward to the next book though: the ending was super interesting and the characters + character development really made up for the lack of plot so I’d love to see them all reunited and what comes next - and thank god I have less than a month to wait!
