3.55 AVERAGE

This was a random read for me. I hadn't heard anything about it, but grabbed a copy at a library sale and it was in KindleUnlimited (read&listen) and I had a subscription at the moment, so it moved up my TBR. I liked it a lot.

I have to say it wasn't really super surprising ... everything happened basically as I would have predicted, but it was an enjoyable ride along the way. Our poor MC is dealing with a major assignment at her job, just as her friend is planning her wedding with the MC as the maid of honor, and throw in a new relationship too. She's overwhelmed.

Some connections ... the characters dealing with alcoholism in their family, how that has affected them (the MC doesn't drink because of that). Some anxiety/depression ... AI chats. Relationships with friends, family, work, new love ...

1st person (Nicole's POV)//Past tense.

Content Concerns: proFanity x 4, some sex/nothing explicit although there's quite a bit of bawdy bridesmaid talk/penisx18.

Eh. 2.5 rounding up. Very slow and repetitive. Couldn't connect with the MC. I was a bit annoyed at her. Love story was practically nonexistent.

Bland

This character is not relatable and very immature. Couldn’t stand the constant repetition of certain phrases (“the four skin care products I use on my face every night”, etc.) Reminded me why I stopped reading these free books in the first place.

I really enjoyed this book. The main character, Nicole, is a workaholic who schedules every minute of her day. When her best friend Parisa gets engaged and asks Nicole to be her maid of honor, Nicole’s orderly, scheduled life begins to unravel. I love the friendship between Nicole and Parisa. They are lifelong friends who love and support each other and aren’t afraid to be bluntly honest with each other. Nicole eventually realizes that she has been using her job to hide from having to deal with the messiness of real life, love, and relationships. Very enjoyable book!

Predictable rom-com plot. 2.5 rounded up because I can relate to the main character's workaholic tendency.

DNF—only got about 20% in before I had to stop. Quirky-worky girl, gorgeous bff getting married, meet-cute with the hot bartender who worky-girl just can’t find the time for! (insert eye roll) So many tired ass tropes and boring ass characters. NEXT!

I got about 65% into this book before I gave up. The main character is so hard to like. I really struggled with identifying with her workaholic lifestyle and putting work before loved ones. I wouldn’t be surprised if some companies are like this IRL, but it’s not relaxing for me to read about. Also, the disrespect she was treated with by some people had me seething! I like books to be a fun place for me to escape to and this was not that for me.

It was so well written!!!! The main character somewhat drove me crazy but in the end it finished as it should. Would recommend
