For the k-drama obsessed and newbies a perfect mix of crazy plans , funny moments and genuine teenage emotions. As a k-drama lover it felt like a drama wrapped up in a book and the ride was amazing.

Fun look at how Kdramas can help you in real life! Yep. It's true. Also, I loved the kdrama list in the back. For future reference. :)

I don't usually go for light and fluffy romantic YA, but this funny and fast-paced story snagged me from the start. Desi's determination to win her dude, take care of her dad and pretty much be the best student ever is both endearing and crazy. The side cast of characters felt a little underdeveloped, which I can forgive since the story was narrated from first person perspective. Plus Desi's voice was authentic, refreshing and totally engaging. :)

It made me cringe.
It made me laugh.
It made me smile, like any good contemporary. Love the Asian rep and how it intertwined a K-drama. It was a cute and quick read, the characters stressed me out sometime (like in most contemporaries) but I enjoyed it.

3,2 dari 5 bintang!

Horeee! Sekali lagi terima kasih karena you know me so well ya sist fufufu

Akankah Desi berhasil mendapatkan hatinya luca?

Seriusan membaca buku ini mengingatkanku akan kisah Trilogi [b:To All the Boys I've Loved Before|15749186|To All the Boys I've Loved Before (To All the Boys I've Loved Before, #1)|Jenny Han|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1372086100l/15749186._SY75_.jpg|21442106] by Jenny Han. 9 Uragiri wa Boku no Namae wo Shitteiru 9 |Hotaru Odagiri|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1332437299l/12706079._SX50_.jpg|17838673] wkwk

Listen, I love kdramas.
I live for it. I love all the unbelievable things that happen and recently it has been my main source of gushy romance.
I thought I was gonna love this.
But the things the main character did were all inexcusable to me and I couldn't bring myself to want them to end up together. I was rooting against them, which is not something you want to feel in a romance novel.
I also felt like it was very formulaic (although she was following steps so I get it?) and I could not for my life support the main character's decisions.
Had a male character done all these things, would we not be complaining about how abusive the beginning of their relationship was? How manipulative? Staging a car accident which got him hurt? Pretending to drown so he would be worried about her life and forget why he was (reasonably) upset?
It's a bunch of red flags, one after another.
So this wasn't for me, sadly.
If this ended with him not coming back to her and Desi learning a lesson from it it would've probably been a 5 star book.
It was still a pretty fast read and I'm sure many people will like it. I enjoyed all the references to popular kdramas and bits of Korean culture. It just wasn't what I want from a romance book.

On hold

An utter joy from cover to cover. And it has a Kdrama reclist at the end! <3333

I did not care for this book at all. I typically love YA romances with all the fluttery first love feelings. But I found the MC annoying manipulative. And I didn't feel like there was that much chemistry between them.

Spoilers below:

The premise is she struggles with guys so she decides to follow the formula of how love always works out in K-dramas that actually sounds like a cute premise. But it involves a lot of manipulative stuff, like untying a boat from the dock so they get washed out into the ocean and staging a car accident. Then when the guy finds out about all of it and breaks up with her. Of course there was no doubt in my mind they'd get back together... But she wins him back by pulling another manipulative stunt that almost gets him killed. WTF?
