One of my absolute faves of all times. Im kinda getting involved into this k-drama thing very recently and i still had my doubts about it all, BUT this made me love them so much more. So cute and aghh, it had the perfect amount of drama and sweetness.Really enjoyed it.
i liked the kdrama focus. i do not like the romantic interest barf.
I really liked the kdrama references and Desi resonated with high school me quite a bit. I also thought the humor in this book was top notch (even if the word "badass" was overused).
I did have an issue with pieces of the plot and how easily Luca forgave her? Like...at least it wasn't "everything is fine" but the drama was like a page and a half and based on her shenanigans I felt like she got off too easy.
But hey, that makes it even more like a kdrama right?

This was a fast, easy read that was light-hearted and cheery. You have to get past the kinda batsh*t crazy plan she concocted, but alls fair in love and such, eh?
I enjoyed the wacky hijinks and general ridiculousness of the story until the main couple got together. The lack of chemistry between the lead character, whose simp levels are so high she creates an incredibly complicated plan that involves a staged car crash to get a guy she fell for after ten minutes to date her, and the love interest who has less personality than a brick wall and would definitely be played by Noah Centineo if Netflix made this a movie, killed any fun I was having.
The title isn’t what grabbed me into reading this book, it’s the story, or to be more precise, I had to read this book that actually mentions kdramas, even recommends quite a few! I mean, for real? It shows how kdramas have influenced Desi to the extent that she is imagining herself to be in a real life drama, making up a list according to drama-ideals to achieve what she wouldn’t be able to do herself. And yes, this resulted into crazy and embarrassing situations.
This book was hilarious and cute at the same time. Such a great and light read during summer, especially if you have difficulty getting into books.

I loved Desi Lee and found her awkward overachiever self very charming and relatable. Which is good--for a book with this storyline, it's super important that we like Desi because otherwise once she gets going with her K-Drama Plan to Get a Boyfriend.....well, if we didn't like her, she would kiiind of be the villain, because this Boyfriend Plan is really intense and could have caused some serious injuries!!! (This is me reading as an Adult.)
I've never seen any K-dramas but they're explained enough in the book and also I feel like I get the concept enough from other things in pop culture to see where Desi's coming from--the imperiled heroine, the big true love moment when the hero realizes she's in danger, etc....that's all so pervasive and seems so appealing.
Her plan is still super wack but I believed it and I still believed the relationship that formed from it. At some points I was feeling so much secondhand embarrassment I had to read like, a paragraph at a time and stare at the wall for awhile between paragraphs to recover my senses. I was in very deep.
All in all a great YA romance with a lot of funny bits and great side characters (including a lesbian couple), great for fans of Sarah Dessen etc etc etc.
for awhile I was afraid she was never going to reveal her plan to Luca and I felt so bad about it!!! spoiler it all comes out tho!!!
