This is book 2 in the Villetti Chronicles, and it is now the 2nd son’s turn to find his HEA. I will say that I have never read a book where a character is demisexual, and it was a fantastic read to learn about that.
Theia hasn’t had it easy; she was trafficked and exploited for two years before being rescued and given a safe place to stay with others like her. Theia takes a job at Zayn’s club, Desecration, to reclaim her power, but there are still things she isn’t willing to do, and she does not let clients touch her.
Zayn hands the reigns of being the boss of their father’s empire over to Gil because he genuinely doesn’t want to do it. Gil is known for being his father’s unemotional killer, and it’s not a title he enjoyed much but was good at his job. It’s not known by many that Gil is a demisexual, and when he finds himself intrigued by Theia, he enlists the help of Remi to be able to see Theia secretly. He only wants to talk to her, which throws her off.
These two are adorable together, and their build-up is so well done. Theia respects his boundaries and always asks before she initiates anything, even something as simple as holding his hand. It takes Gil some time to realize his feelings for her, and he fumbles a bit. I will say that just as she respects his boundaries, he respects hers and even listens to her wishes to help fulfill a fantasy of hers. As you can imagine, this book is a slow burn, which is absolutely worth the wait. Sarah never disappoints on spice, and I would love to have a man like Gil.
Everyone’s favorite fixer, Penn, makes an appearance, and it’s delightful as always. I don’t care how long we have to wait for Penn’s book; I adore every little glimpse we get of him. I also enjoyed Gil’s self-proclaimed best friend Edric, who enjoys getting on Gil’s last nerve but knows when to dial it back.
We will see more of Edric in Verona’s novella, which I’m sure will be fantastic.

Sarah is definitely at the top of my READ NOW list. This was soooo good. The way Gil and Theia learned to heal from each was just so good to read. Their development throughout the book was nice to see. So many people keep things bottled up but to have someone to see you, is one of the greatest feelings. Bravo! Can't wait for the next installment.
Gil is asked by Zayn to lead the family and become the Capo of the Mafia. He has been the shadow of his father so when his father was killed Zayn didn't want it so he made Gil take over. One night he sees a girl getting harassed at Zayn's club and stepped in. Theia was very thankful for what Gil did for her. She thanks him and even gives her real name to her. With all the stress of taking over the family all of a sudden he finds himself renting out a room at his brother's club to just talk with Theia. When we find out more about each other the bond is being made between Gil and Theia. What happens when the bond between them all of a sudden becomes romantic? What happens when the past comes out? What happens when the Family is one giant issue and is tied together with Theia's past?
I really enjoyed this book. I really loved that Sarah brought in some new vibes with sexuality that I have never read before and it was refreshing to see and get new representation for it. I really enjoyed how Gil and Theia came to be. I really loved seeing all our favorite characters through the series so far! I really enjoyed the spice, and how well Sarah writes it. I am here for the rest of the series and can't wait to see the rest of the family!

We love some demisexual representation. Now as an allosexual person I cannot comment on the accuracy, however it was nice to to see and underrepresented identity in a genre that is lacking such diversity. I loved the relationship between Gil and Theia and watching Gil be so clueless was so adorable. The tension during their meetings was palpable through the screen I was reading on. Just always read Sarah Bailey she’s a master at this stuff 😅

Sarah Bailey does it again. Her books drive me up the wall, have me in puddles of tears and just have me reading for hours on end. Gil is such a unique character and I love his development over the book.
