It seemed to never really get going and then all the sudden it was over. Bah. I've read better.

This is one of the books where Laurie Montgomery and Jack Stapleton appear. Usually this are my favorite books but this time I have to admit I was a bit disappointed. The book reads smoothly, new characters are round and "done" . But I haven't experienced the vibe I always felt reading books about Laurie and Jack. We know everything about the crimes from the beginning and maybe that's the problem , there is nothing , really nothing new to discover about the cases. We know exactly what happened, who did it and to whom. The plot was interesting and I think the idea which was put in the book was quite original, but still R.Cook wrote better books.

Unrealistic, full of errors, but an engrossing plot that drags you in. It was nice that the plot moved away from the typical Laurie Montgomery/ Jack Stapleton plots and that they actually only acted as minor characters. Some of the characters were difficult to understand in terms of motivation and background, but overall the novel was enjoyable.

Interesting look into medical mysteries that are hard to believe but have a definate truth to them. if it had not been americans in this book people may not have known.

these things go ignored everyday all the time. Nice twists. Easy to follow and unpredictable. Not great for reading at night in bed. A little slow and may out you to sleep. but all together a great Job

Drama about a medical student in India investigating a suspicious death of her grandmother. Flat, formulaic characters, stilted, artificial dialogue, dumb plot. Worth reading only if you’re desperate

This is my first Robin Cook book. It is a medical thriller about medical tourism. Jennifer, a UCLA student is flies to India after her Grandmother dies after a routine surgery. Jennifer must use her own resourcefulness to figure out how the murder of two other Americans are similar to her own grandmother's death. Her investigation threatens her own safety.

The action takes place over a week. For me, the story dragged on too long and repeated itself. Cook describes situations and sets up the plot extensively. In Foreign Body the main character does not know what the problem is but as a reader, you know what Nurses International is up to. The tension and action builds around whether Jennifer will solve the mystery in time. You get to know the characters quite well.

Eh. I keep reading Robin Cook's books hoping for another wow book like his earlier one's were for me.[return][return]This one had me keep hoping for a twist to come. Something unexpected. But, alas, no go.[return][return]I guess it's a plus that I *did* keep reading 'til the end. And it made me want to go read up on modern India, too.

Another Good Read From Robin Cook
“Foreign Body” didn’t disappoint. Here is another medical suspense novel by Robin Cook that mingles mystery with a minor subplot of romance and I enjoyed both aspects of the story. Believable characters and storyline combine to bring to light a current issue in the medical field - medical tourism.

Ultimately, I found Foreign Body to be a disappointing novel as a medical thriller, but I did enjoy Cook's character development and his simple, plain use of language. The story was quite predictable, but I kept moving forward because I liked the people at the center of the contraversy.
