Well, this series seems to get better and better as it goes on. There have been several twists and turns in the plot thrown at readers in this instalment and it definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat! Can't wait to read the next one!
this new A build up is so in my face, if i didn’t already know who the new A was, i’d think it was a red herring
This was another one of Sara Shepard's books that started off somewhat boring and samey-samey. I genuinely had trouble getting started on this one because of the fact that there was a lot of back story in this one and a lot of mundane events in order to build up to the frankly intense ending (which is why this book has earned its 4 star rating - because the ending blew me away and pulled me back into the series after the dryness of the first half of this book). I'm finding it to be a repetitive theme in Sara's books: kind of boring in the first half and then the second half is so exciting that I can't bear to put it down for even a moment - and I suppose this is a device she uses to keep her readers hooked. Whatever it is, it works.
It was nice to see that the girls are starting to do something about things now instead of just running to the cops and getting themselves into more trouble through false allegations. It was great to see them finding out things for themselves, too - doing this instead of as a group which is highly different than in the other books where they would always stick together and all be mislead. It was refreshing to see all of the girls in different places and doing different things rather than reading the same thing over a fifty page spread just from different POV's - it makes it more exciting and gives it more spice. They were actively investigating and I absolutely loved that - they weren't letting the cops do their dirty work; they were doing it themselves and gathering their own evidence.
No more "quick let's run to the cops with no evidence and without even checking it out!" (I hope!)
Countless times in this book I had a "oh my gosh _____ did it" or "oh my gosh ______ is to blame!" and each time I was wrong - Sara has managed to lay so many paths throughout this and they lead you the wrong way so that when the twists do happen, you don't expect them - they're all fabulous.
This book was interesting, exciting, creepy, fun, enjoyable (despite the first half of it - but seriously, the second half more than made up for it!)... and this book made me start to adore the characters even more than I already did and the way they are portrayed is getting better as the books go on - I'm not rolling my eyes at any of them anymore.
Overall I'm pleased with the development that this book took and it is a highly impressive book in the series and a much needed catalyst to kick off the next books!
I do recommend this book (and this series!) to everyone to which finds the premise of these books interesting. Yes, they can be somewhat tedious to get through sometimes but I find because I read them consecutively without minimal break (maximum a day between each one) that I just get used to the same things over and over again. That said, I will be continuing this series because the minor monotony is worth it for the action, the excitement and everything inbetween takes that away.

This PLL book felt like it got the series back on track after some of the lackluster plots from previous books. A was once again actually manipulative and deadly, and there weren't any boring relationship subplots. The reveals A made throughout the book about Mr. Hasting's past are hugely important to upcoming books, and I'm curious to see how Spencer deals with the news of his affair.
I was also completely stunned that Jenna died at the end of this! I love that the books kill off main characters more frequently and in more horrifying ways than the show ever did, but I still wasn't expecting Jenna to die and am curious to see who the next book kills off.

I totally feel in love with this book. There was so much drama and everyone had a different idea about what happened to their best friend. I can't wait to read the next book!
This book was more interesting than the recent books... but still not amazing. The girls are dumb and annoying...
Amazing! Im so close to the end.... I can feel it! Sara Shepard is really amazing. I loved the way sh ends these books. It always ;eaves me wanting more!!!!

the police and media would not be doing this to minors idc idc. The girls were also extra stupid and gullible in this one
This book was better than 5 & 6, but it was still annoying.
Spencer- found out Alison was her sister, and found out that her parents used a surrogate for her. Her relationship with Melissa is actually a lot better than in the show and I like that.
Aria- dates someone her own age and think's Alison's ghost is haunting her. I feel bad for the reporters harassing her.
Hanna- actually has mental problems and PTSD from what Mona did and got help for it, the help wasn't really that good though, Iris turned out to be a b*tch even though she could have been a friend first. Hanna really does care about popularity than actual friendship and I kind of can't stand her.
Emily- Cosplays an Amish girl?????
Overall: Not terrible, still gonna keep going on with the series. The plot twist with Jenna at the end was surprising and I liked that.
