This series has turned out to be nothing like the books. The girls aren’t nearly as close and friendly they treat each other like competition when if they worked together they’d get so much further!
I am eager to read on just to see how the series ends compared with the show.

One of my favvy book in the series! This definitely deserves a 5 star
lighthearted mysterious medium-paced

Say what you want about Sara Shepard, but the woman knows how to write a cheap-thriller. I read 21 chapters before I went to my course and it took about two and a half hours.

Saturday morning I had five books opened and three of them nearly finished, and know only one is left. So I may or may not jump on the eighth book today.

Anyway, let's talk a little about the girls. Emily had a spiritual experience. Aria discovered that yet another 'Typical Rosewood Boy' isn't bland and can actually read! -I kid you not. Maybe she'll realize at some point that she isn't as superior as she things and that judging people based on how they look isn't accurate or nice- again, I am not joking. Spencer learn more about her family and Hannah goes to a retreat/mental facility to treat her PTSD.

I hated the ending, why have so many characters if you're going to use some random person making his debut. I hope that book 8 has better ending.

I may have to read the last 8 books (last 8... what kind of series is this?) instead of listening to them, but I think it's doable.

****3.5/5****

This was a very quick and enjoyable (like always) read. I felt like I got a lot more out of this book than the last couple. It’s still a little childish for me but I can’t judge too harshly on that because that’s just my age, I think. Like always, the girls different story lines are intriguing and keep you excited for the following books!

Wow, I guess this is an understatement that Heartless was a shocker in every way. The PLL books do that to you, throw a curve ball and stun you through every chapter. The reader follows Aria, Spencer, Emily and Hanna as they try to solve what happened to Alison. Most of all they want to know the truth on who killed her. Each girl is led on a separate mission that takes them out of Rosewood or they remain there. Secrets and startling truths are revealed and again as the book comes to a close, it leaves the reader wondering, "is this the end?". It seems to be but there are still so many unanswered questions that you know it isn't.

Sara Shepard's M.O. is "let's serve nothing throughout the whole novel and add a random murder/traumatic event at the end every time" and it shows.  I'm also still having issues with the use of harmful, fatphobic language and the use of the r word as an insult/slur was not it. Sara Shepard's view of those in mental health facilities was also not great - perpetuating the stereotype that all those seeking help with their mental health are "crazy" was eye-rolling to say the least. Although the last cliffhanger in "Killer" kept me interested, the big reveal
Jenna being murdered
at the end of this one did nothing for me - I've just... stopped caring? I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm not sure why this series is as long as it is - the novelty of this series has definitely worn off for me.
