The format of this book is so unique. I didn’t think I would like it but then I fell into the rhythm. The prose is also gorgeous. But what I loved most about this book, was how real the inner worlds of the girl boxers were. Their thoughts brought me back to my own teenage years and it was such a true dialogue they had with themselves. Their memories and their thoughts about what their futures could be - the author captures the insides of their brains so perfectly.

The first story I think was the most potent, where Andi struggles to process trauma and grief but the others are just as real - Iggy and Izzy’s dynamic of big cousin little cousin, Tanya and Rose’s telling of big sisters and how wisdom is passed.
