Kind of dragged on at points but overall pretty good

It was really Entertaining. Funny, sensational and it the story felt real.

Whenever I am in a reading slump, I try to find a book that is just a big drama happening at a rapid pace so that there is never a dull page to make me leave a book, and this is book is perfect for that. So if you are in a reading slump, start reading this one.

One thing I must say about the author is that she knows how to introduce characters in a story. There are so many characters in her book that after reading the first chapter, I was worried how I was going to remember all the names, families, the relationships and kids but she managed to make it all work without me doing any work whatsoever to memorise any of it. She would be such a great teacher, I just loved that I didn't have to actively memroise a single thing here. It was all so fluid and easy to get. That's really good skill there!

As per the story, it is very interesting. The characters are very well-developed and the story unfolds in an interesting manner. I was never bored, even though some topics that she tries to highlight are emotionally taxing such as children slavery and underage marriages; but all of it is very effortlessly fused into the story. Kudos for that!

Recommended for: Everybody but especially the people who are looking to get out of reading slumps.

I read this after watching the HBO series and I loved the book so much more than the series. The series was great, but the book is way better. The characters are so much more developed and multi-dimensional.

Loved this book!!! These characters are unforgettable, as is their story. I listened to the audiobook, Caroline Lee's narration is incredible and I'd highly recommend it. Celeste's character has a special place in my heart, her story cuts deep because it feels so genuine. I've never felt more validated and seen by a character's story.

So good!! So much better than I was expecting. I loved what Alice forgot, but I was mostly indifferent (leaning towards dislike...) about the husbands secret and I almost sent this back to the library without even opening it. SO GLAD I DIDNT!!! I don't know much about domestic violence (THANK GOD) but the part where her old lady babysitter tells her FIRMLY to get a new tennis partner SLAYED ME. I was actually sobbing. And Madeline!! Although I'm not skinny or fashionable, I don't know, I could REALLY relate to her. Oh man. This was just GOOD. And hey Angela- I didn't peek at the end!!! I sort of guessed the victim but I did NOT guess the assailant. So good.
