I loved this book. I thought I wouldn't like it because I had already loved The Husband's Secret and I figured it would be too similar, but it really was different. I was completely immersed in the book, I loved the characters and thought the author captured the personality of suburban life. I think it is hysterical that it all centers around a kindergarten class, yet it is not all that exaggerated! Apparently the US and Australian suburbs are very similar. Such a great read, I wish it hadn't ended.

SO freaking clever!! Tbh this felt like a mashup of several books I recently read. The possibly diabolical kid from Baby Teeth, meets the rich & clique-y suburban moms of When Life Gives You Lululemons or You Love Me, mixed with the marriage secrets and machinations of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, with a dash of dichotomy of man from He Said/She Said. But it twists and turns and wraps up so beautifully.
In brilliantly plotted, slow-burn chapters alternating between kiddie playdates, school bullying accusations, mommy gossip, and escalating suburban drama, police question the community on a mysterious murder whose victim and play-by-play details are only unfurled at the end.
But buried within is a secret subplot that suddenly bursts into the main stage: domestic abuse and male-on-female violence. Don’t let the shallow vessel of catty drama misdirect you from the complicated, thoughtful dives into why women stay, sexual encounter consent, victim-blaming, grief over broken families, and other excruciating considerations.
