Kerr found this for her niece...and I have to say, it's pretty much perfect and we need far more books like it. (Also, if you don't know Shiraishi, you should look her up. She's a badass and one of the best climbers in the world today regardless of age or gender.)

Very well done. I love the illustrations in this picture book, and it has a great message. What a great book!

Loved this correlation to problem solving. The rock is not an obsticale. It's a problem that can be solved. When you fall (fail) you can look back and see how to better solve the climb (problem).

The art is lovely, the colors gorgeous, and I especially love the visualization of what the climber sees.
I love the framing of boulders as problems and I would be happy to learn more about Ashima Shiraishi and her climbs to the top.

This works well as a picture book and I would be happy to give it to anyone age 3+

Impressive athlete to learn about. I wish it focused more on her life but this was a different perspective to tackle.

I loved the art in this so much! I really liked rock climbing as a kid but only did it a few times. Ashima's story is inspiring.

It's been a while for me since a picture book felt as fresh, unique, and inspiring as this one. Catch me fangirling over Ashima Shiraishi and Yao Xiao for the rest of time.
