It's amazing how insightful this classic dystopian novel is about our current times. Given it's popularity and impact over the years though, I wonder if part of the reason for this is self fulfilling prophecy?
Still, what a mind Orwell had to have thought up such a potential future that long ago!

I get the point of it, and it's timelessness and universality is astonishing. In that sense, 1984 deserves 5 stars. But I couldn't finish it quick enough. I sped through the latter half, barely reading anything. It was longer than it needed to be, in my opinion. Part 2 especially, the book would've been more impactful if it'd had a faster pace. It is however, the perfect dystopian novel. It instills a paranoia in you. And it is so relevant to the human condition. Kind of insane how so many things apply in the present day.
