What did I think, says Goodreads. So many things that I'm not sure where to begin. It is quite lengthy, but I flew through it. Having said that, I have a few gripes. One is: why do authors try to create the "different" girl who's new, a virgin, and the most amazing person EVER that every guy within 100 miles wants? They all end up being the same, annoying, selfish, blushing and moronic character. In the beginning, I liked Harper (or maybe just understood her on some level). While she was innocent, she at least managed to take care of herself. And while some may find her change from inexperienced teen to college party girl extreme, I see it as being reasonable. It was the first time she'd been on her own and trying to discover the person she was. Of course she had to meet Chase and the instant chemistry was there. Unsurprisingly, he is the playboy that immediately attracts Harper's attention. Tall, muscular, and gorgeous, but he comes off as a complete douche bag in the beginning. A few days later, enter Brandon - tall, muscular, devastatingly beautiful AND an absolute sweetheart. There should be no hard choice, right? HA! All books in this genre have to include a love triangle. [NOTE: I am not saying that I have never been attracted to a bad boy, because I'm pretty sure we all have.]
This book had my emotions all over the place. I immediately fell in love with Brandon, much like Harper did. And how could you not? He's a bad ass MMA fighter, extremely gorgeous, and adores her. Then there was Chase... blah! Yes, he was hot, but seriously? The guy's emotional spectrum was way too much for me. He was borderline BiPolar Disorder, I swear. It really pissed me off that she was holding so much back with Brandon but in a moment, decides to ruin everything for a night with a guy who, in my opinion, acted like a jerk the majority of the time. Oh I'm sorry - he did sweet things, like buy her flowers, a ring, and a tattoo (that he drew, ugh). Which actually brings me to this point: these guys knew her favorite flower and what she doodled on every piece of paper. We NEVER saw/heard any of this. I understand that everything can't be thrown in, but I'd think knowing bits like this are important, especially if they're going to play a part later in the story. Anyway, she and Chase do the deed (GRRRRRRR) and omg! Neither have protection, but who cares! The consequences in this case (pregnancy - oh, so unprotected sex makes babies?) force her to tell Brandon what happened and they break up. I have never hated a character in a book more than I did at that moment (although we don't read that scene until later in the book). While I understand she couldn't be with him for obvious reasons, it was heartbreaking. And she essentially jumps right into things with Chase. I still wasn't a fan of his but things were getting better until Karma strikes and he cheats on the woman carrying his child. Harper finds out and decides they need to "start over as friends" and basically see how the relationship works then. Tragedy then strikes and we learn the truth about many things. From here on, the book is mediocre. Poor Brandon, whose heart has been trampled countless times by Harper is back in the picture. The focus now shifts onto their relationship and it's just wrapped up too nicely. I obviously adored Brandon and wanted him to be happy. It just annoyed me that he was waiting in the wings for his chance with this idiot.
COMPLAINT SECTION: Okay, and to add further to the annoyance of this "love triangle", the author added a third man. Carter, a Marine from back home, who followed her because he couldn't be without her. Seriously, what is it about her that was so irresistible to men? Why does it seem the people in these books always have plenty of money?? Okay, Brandon was a fighter and saved most of his, but then Chase just happens to have this huge inheritance sitting out there? The immediate acceptance of her pregnancy, that it was Chase's baby and not her boyfriend's, and then their approval of her getting back together with Brandon two months after their son passes away tragically. That might have been the hardest pill to swallow in the whole book tbh. She later even says that she was planning to be happy with Chase until his death. Uh, your husband overhears and is okay with that?
I know it feels like my whole review is complaining but there was so much going on throughout the story, it's hard not to! This will take you on an emotional roller coaster ride filled with anger. I don't get the devastation all crying thing associated with this book, however.

If you have a heart don't read this. It will shatter it into pieces. I couldn't bring myself to finish it. I ignored the warning from other reviews and I wish I would've saved myself.
I can not begin to describe this book! This book has become my all time #1 book! This is the book that I can read over and over again and never get tired off. It can break your heart and rebuild it all over again. I always recommend this book to everyone I talk to who asks for something to read. I even keep extras for people to borrow if they need to. I love this book so much!
