I very much enjoyed reading this story about a girl named Nina who loves books more than anything else. When the libraries in her town begin to change their focus she is faced with figuring out what is next in her life. Nina goes on a real life adventure to make her dream of opening a bookshop come true.

I had been skittish about Colgan based on the last one I read, but I think this is my favorite of hers so far! Liked the setting, the characters, the plot. All good!

Ugh all this romance stuff
Edit: after talking to a friend about the book I realized how much I actually disliked it so only two stars (and just for the first part of the book because that was actually enjoyable)

Loved this way more than I expected. It’s a perfect feel-good, heartwarming story. And it’s set (mostly) in Scotland. Will definitely pick up Bookshop on the Shore soon.

cannot emphasize enough how much i disliked this book. predictable plot and annoying main character. kept thinking something would get better.... nope.
the main character is embarrassing. dopey and doe-eyed, but magically everything works out for her. even the grouchy landlord (who suddenly becomes the sexy loving farm hand) harbors a secret love for the tenant who continuously proves herself incompetent.
not to mention her friends are assholes.

Such a cozy read! Delightful characters too and now I have an urge to sell everything and buy a book truck...
