i thought cursed fates was depressing but this installment was pretty much suffering the whole way through and none of them could catch a break. the last 20% got balls-to-the-wall insane and then they had that goofy avengers assemble ass scene but i was just so relieved at a reprieve from the endless sense of doom that i was eating it up. caroline and susanne will of course need to be dealt with for the other thing that happens in the last 20%, because if they commit to it i will have to bill them for my therapy. 4 months' worth at least.

the character development in this book was so good; all of them grow but seth, darcy, and darius specifically shocked me in a very good way. if i'm honest more seth + darcy than darius because he was stubborn about his stupid politics until pretty much the very end but i feel like he really turned a corner. i've never hated seth as much as i should've but he really improved in this book and made an effort to be a better person (not sure why but i'm not complaining) and darcy got the chance to step up and gain self confidence. she's always seemed pretty docile and amenable to a fault next to tory but she's shown she's not to be underestimated at all and i loved it so much; i knew she was capable of it and it's so satisfying i feel like a proud mother!!

i'm sure geraldine's dialogue is objectively way over the top but in the 800 pages of psychological torture i was just happy for something silly to amuse me so i didn't throw my phone at the wall. again the last 20% just got batshit crazy but i loved it; it felt like they were finally able to land a strike after so long waiting and preparing. on another note i really feel for xavier (i swear this is not girl hate but) i don't think sofia deserves him at all. she's really nice as a character otherwise but xavier deserves to have someone that cares about him as much as he cares about her and she doesn't really fit that.

"It wasn't a promise, but it was hope. And for now that was enough."

Great troubles plague the Vega Twins as they face separate lives under the cruelty of their enemies. But where fate toys with it's strings, new alliances and old emerge, bringing together the star's plans for the fated throne of Solaria.

I think one of my notes sums up my feelings about this book really well, "I would like to CATCH A BREAK PLEASE." This book hits the ground running and genuinely doesn't stop until the very last sentence. It's easily the most wild of the entire series so far, and twisted up my emotions like nothing else. I found myself upset more than once at the sheer amount of pain, but still really, really enjoying the sheer amount of insanity that was going on. Once you're on the ride, you kind of just want to throw your hands up and go with the adrenaline rush.

Since I refuse to talk about spoilers in my reviews, just know that when the thing happened at the end with the place and the man and the thing in the place and then they got back to the room and then I was ready to SCREAM and then I DID SCREAM and then THAT HAPPENED and I KNEW IT and anyways Eugene for president??? K.

I need to charge my iPad and start book seven.

4.25 out of 5 ☆’s.

“It was time for the King and his army to fall. And the Vega Queens to rise.”

To quote The Script: “I’m still alive, but I’m barely breathing.”

If I’m being honest — I don’t know if I have enough emotional energy in me to continue the series…

(I will be starting ”Heartless Sky” soon regardless, though, because if I take a break now then I just know that I will never gather up the courage to read it…)

Wish me luck! ♡

Emotional Damage! Omg this book ripped me apart and put me back together multiple times! It was one hell of a ride but i loved every minute. I must say there was some great character development, especially with Seth, Max and Darius. I’m afraid to start the next book but also excited!

I never read a series where i tried to expect to worse out of fear for being ripped apart by a character death until this one! Literally no one is safe! My heart can’t take it!

I loved this book.
It was wholesome, it was hilarious, it was sad, it was heartbreaking.
I expected the ending to be much sadder than it actually was.
we saw a vision of Darius dying in one year when he sacrifices himself for Tory and his friends, which is sad of course, but that won’t hit me until it actually happens?

I loved the bonding of the Heirs with the twins this book. It started off heartbreaking and irritating, but after 20%, it picks back up again.
It could have been 100 or so pages shorter and the pacing is so bizarre that it’s funny, but damn do these sisters know how to write intense scenes!? And I personally love this world, so additional, albeit unnecessary pages I enjoyed.
the premise for book 7 sounds so exciting. Tory and Darius able to be together for a year, Tory free of the shadows and her bond, all of them on the run? I can sense more wholesome, bonding moments and equally badass ones incoming
