Working my way through this series. This one was one of my favorites so far. But I am finding all of the books are consistent. Humor mixed with who-dun-it.
I am reading the alphabet series in order, as recommended by my sister and this is the best one to date. Grafton seems to get her mystery sense rolling in this book.
As Grafton moves through the alphabet the mysteries are starting to become more masterfully contrived. I still figured most of it out, but there were some assumptions that I fell for the misdirect.
an automatic 5 ⭐️
It feels so good to be going back to Kinsey’s world. I really enjoy how each book is a new case with new characters and a new mystery but still familiar because we are in the Millhone universe. This isn’t the kind of 5 star read because it’s groundbreaking in it’s plot and character development, it’s my kind of 5 star because I stayed interested and intrigued till the end. I love Kinsey’s tenacity while on a case and how her personality shows up through comments or mental notes, she very much reads as a real person on the page.

Oh, these are just fun books! I feel like mystery books like these are my secret books like romance books are for some people.

I really enjoy Kinsey Milhone and her capers! I can suck one of these down in a day. I'm reading them in order so, to be frank, reviews are really just based on the previous books in this series, rather than just giving all of them 5 stars (because I REALLY enjoy them, remember?).
So this one was good but there were a few negatives that stick out:
1) it's chock-full of batsh*t crazy women but mostly sane men. What up with that?
2) Floral Beach was too weird to be believable
3) Kinsey- all business, all the time. Get her some man love already! Where's that fling from a few books ago?
Onward to the G.

The more I read the books in this series, the more I like them. I still haven't managed to guess whodunnit, although that's not really saying much!
Another good installment in the Kinsey Millhone series!
